Screening of expression conditions: Why EnBase

Screening of strains and the optimisation of expression conditions aimed at an industrial bioprocess, should be carried out under the same fed-batch conditions that are present in the bioreactor. The reason for this is that different cell physiology and protein yield can be obtained in standard shake flasks with batch cultivation when compared with a glucose-limited fermentation process. The problems associated with using conflicting methodology in screening can be overcome by using EnBase media for the screening procedure, where the same glucose limited fed-batch is applied in both scales.
