EnBase® Technology - enzymatic glucose release
The patented EnBase technology is a novel culture technology development, which provides a reduced amount of available sugars in the culture medium and enhances the activity, health and productiveness of the microorganisms.
This development was designed based on the fed-batch principle implemented in bioreactors and EnBase allows the fed-bath type of cultures to be used in culture volumes as small as 0.15 mL.
EnBase products eliminate the problem of overfed bacteria and oxygen depletion, which often leads to poor quality and low cell numbers - and eliminates the need to start the cultures again.
This technology saves time and money for laboratory researchers by reducing the number of cultures needed and the volume of cultures required to be processed.
BioSilta scientists have scaled-down fed-batch technology from bioreactor scale to shake-flask and further down to the volume for a microwell.
Basics of the technology:
- EnBase medium mimics the fed-batch mode used in bioreactors
- EnBase medium contains the optimal composition of nutrients and trace elements for microbial growth
- EnBase medium contains a polysaccharide as the carbon source instead of glucose
- EnZ I'm degrades the polysaccharide, releasing glucose slowly in a controlled manner
- EnZ I'm concentration is defined to ensure the correct rate of glucose release
- EnZ I'm concentration can be altered to optimise the glucose release for each type of bacterium
